London Hydro extending disconnection period

In an effort to help ease the financial burden caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, London Hydro is offering a disconnection grace period for customers who are late paying their power bills.

The hydro company announced it has extended its winter disconnection period by 90 days. That means customers will now have until June 17 to pay any outstanding bills.

"We understand that the winter is a difficult time for customers in many cases and combined with the current state of emergency, we do not want to add additional worries to our customers,” London Hydro CEO Vinay Sharma said in a statement.

Despite the disconnection extension, customers are still encouraged to contact London Hydro to make payment arrangements ahead of the deadline.

"The disconnection of power for non-payment is always a last resort," added Sharma.

Self-service options on the company's website under the MyLondonHydro portal are available so customers can either make payments or arrangements to pay. It also includes information on electricity and water usage.
