Dog quarantined after attack on child

A 10-year-old boy had to be taken to hospital after he was attacked by a friend’s family dog in Norfolk County.

OPP were called to a home on Old Mill Side Road in Houghton in regard to the incident just after 1 p.m. on Saturday. Officers determined the boy had been bitten in the leg by the animal. The child was taken to hospital for treatment. The severity of his injuries was not disclosed.

The owner of the dog requested the animal be taken away from the home and placed in quarantine as this was its second attack on a person.

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit was notified about the incident and will be following up with the investigation.
