Knights double Rangers 6-3

A late-game surge pushed the London Knights to a 6-3 victory over the Kitchener Rangers on Friday.

After a scoreless first period, Connor McMichael and Jonathan Gruden scored back-to-back goals early in the second to give London a 2-0 lead. The Rangers scored their first goal of the game at the seven-minute mark of the frame, but Gruden scored his second of the night to extend London's lead. Kitchener added another goal late in the second and another five minutes into the third to tie things up at 3-3.

Alec Regula scored to regain the lead for London with just over five minutes left in the game, and Liam Foudy scored another for the Knights 17:24 into the final frame. Regula scored his second goal of the night with less than two minutes left on the clock to cap off the win for London.

Knights goaltender Brett Brochu made 20 saves out of 23 shots on net.

The Knights are on the road on Saturday to battle the Kingston Frontenacs at 7 p.m.
