Five edge Lightning 117-116

The London Lightning suffered a heart-breaking 117-116 loss to the Sudbury Five in the final seconds of the game on Thursday.

A back-and-forth first quarter ended with the Five holding a 31-30 lead over London, but the Lightning were able to inch ahead in the second to take a 63-62 lead heading into halftime. London gained more of lead in the third to enter the final frame with a 96-88 advantage. The Lightning held the lead through most of the final quarter but Sudbury scored one final basket in the final three seconds to win by a single point.

Randy Phillips was the top scorer for Windsor with 32 points and five rebounds. Marcus Capers added another 22 points, as well as 12 rebounds and nine assists.

The Lightning will look to rebound on Saturday when they take on the St. John's Edge. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. in London.
