Lost remote? Don't call 911

As frustrating as it can be to lose the TV remote, London police say it is not an emergency.

The police service recently received a 911 call from a person who said they couldn't find their remote control, and police say these types of non-emergency calls can take valuable police resources away from real emergency situations.

"We can assure you that is not even 'remote-ly' a crisis. Please remember to only call 9-1-1 in an emergency," police said in a tweet.

Police hashtagged the tweet with suggestions to help locate the lost clicker including to #lookunderyourcouch and #liftyourcushion.

For those unsure about what constitutes an emergency situation, the police website outlines a list of examples for when 911 should be called and what to do if you accidentally call the emergency number.

As for the lost remote, police later updated the public to let them know the "crisis" had been averted as the remote had been found.
