The Canadian Hockey League has suspended London Knights goalie Dylan Myskiw after what it calls an inadvertent violation of the league's anti-doping rule.
The CHL said Myskiw failed a doping test after a urine sample showed the presence of a prohibited substance. According to the league, the positive test was the result of a prohibited substance found in a post-workout supplement that Myskiw obtained from a reliable commercial vendor. It added Myskiw was unaware that the supplement contained the prohibited substance.
"We accept and appreciate the process that led to the decision made by the CHL and the CCES to suspend Dylan Myskiw. This is an unfortunate but important learning experience for Dylan, as well as the rest of our players," Knights general manager Mark Hunter said in a statement released by the team. "We would like to thank the CHL and CCES for their due diligence in this process. It is unfortunate for our team to lose a player of Dylan’s calibre for eight games but this a consequence that we accept.”
The CHL said the Knights and Myskiw cooperated thoroughly throughout the investigative process. Myskiw will be eligible to return to the Knights lineup on February 7.
