City seeks feedback on automated vehicles

The City of London wants to hear from local residents as technology continues to evolve on Ontario's roads.

With the emergence of driverless technology and connected infrastructure, the city said it recognizes that it will eventually touch nearly all aspects of Londoners’ lives. As such, city officials are asking the public to visit London's official website to provide feedback in an effort to develop a Connected and Automated Vehicle Strategic Plan.

“The city has identified key areas where we expect connected and driverless technologies to transform our city, and feedback from Londoners will help us continue to hone our strategy for automated vehicles on our roads,” said Shane Maguire, the division manager for roadway lighting and traffic control, in a news release.

Within the next 10 to 20 years, this new technology will likely impact street design, the physical health of Londoners, environmental sustainability, accessibility, and data security, the city said.

Londoners who would like to provide input can do so until February 21 by clicking here.
