Suspects sought in gas station ATM theft (VIDEO)

St. Thomas police are looking for suspects after an SUV was used to rip an ATM through the front window of a local gas station.

The theft from the Ultramar at Talbot Street and Fairview Avenue happened around 5 a.m. on Thursday and was captured on surveillance video.

The 26 second clip released by police shows two men tying a chain that was connected to an awaiting SUV around the ATM. The SUV then speeds forward, ripping the cash machine from the wall and through the station's front window. Two men quickly work to load the ATM into the SUV, before the vehicle leaves the scene.

It appears three people were involved in the heist.

In a similar incident late last month, three suspects used a stolen pickup truck to remove an ATM from the Foodland grocery store on William Street. The truck used in that theft was found burned out in Southwold Township roughly two hours later.

Police continue to investigate both incidents and are asking anyone with information to call them at 519-631-1224.
