Guns, bullet-proof vest seized by London police

Three Londoners are facing weapons charges after a police raid on an east-end home turned up two guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and a bullet-proof vest.

London police searched the home on Layard Street, near Adelaide Street and Hamilton Road on Tuesday. Inside, officers found a prohibited shotgun, a .22 caliber improvised firearm or "zip gun", 1,500 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, 108 shotgun shells, 134 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a ballistic vest.

Two men and a woman were arrested as a result of the investigation.

A 24-year-old man, a 63-year-old man, and a 25-year-old woman are now charged with one count of careless storage of a firearm, and two counts of an unlicensed person possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon.

The 24-year-old is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Wednesday, while the 63-year-old and 25-year-old have court dates set for December 23.
