UPDATE: Up to 15 cm of snow possible by Monday night

Snowfall in the forecast has prompted Environment Canada to issue a winter weather travel advisory.

Environment Canada issued the advisory for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London, Middlesex County, and Sarnia-Lambton on Sunday afternoon after issuing a special weather statement.

Light snow is expected to start falling Monday morning, but it'll build through the afternoon and continue until the evening. According to Environment Canada, anywhere from 10 to 15 cm of snow is possible by Monday evening, so drivers are being advised to prepare for adverse weather conditions -- especially during the afternoon commute.

According to the weather agency, "snow squalls may move into the Sarnia to Kettle Point areas early Tuesday morning and persist through the day. Local snowfall amounts near 15 cm are possible on Tuesday".

Motorists are reminded to take caution as travel may be impacted on Monday because of snow accumulation on roads.
