A 53-year-old man is facing charges after a St. Thomas police officer was assaulted while trying to make an arrest at an assisted living facility.
Police were called to the Wellington Street facility about a disturbance involving a man who appeared to be intoxicated around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
An officer was kicked while trying to arrest the man.
A 53-year-old St. Thomas man is now charged with one count of assaulting a police officer.
The officer was not seriously hurt in the incident.
