The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled an additional 44 fresh-cut vegetable products sold across the country due to possible Listeria contamination.
The affected products include several under the Mann's brand, such as "crave a bowl", "family favourites", "nourish bowls", "organic", and "snacking favourites." Sysco Imperial veggie power blend and Western Family broccoli slaw and sweet kale salad kit have also been added to the massive recall.
All have best before dates up to and including November 16, 2019. A full list of the recalled items can be found by clicking here.
The expanded list of recalled packaged, fresh vegetable products comes days after the national food inspection agency issued a related recall of Compliments sweet kale blend, vegetable platter with ranch dip, broccolini, cauliettes – chopped cauliflower, power green blend, and green beans.
Customers who purchased any of the recalled products are advised not to eat them and to either throw them away or return them to the store.
Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, according to the CFIA. Symptoms of Listeria infection include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. The illness can cause death in severe cases.
So far, there have been no reported illnesses associated with these recalled products, the CFIA said.
