King's student identified as crash victim

A young man killed in a three vehicle collision north of London is being remembered as a dedicated student with a caring and compassionate nature.

Emil Pietruszewski, 21, died Tuesday afternoon after a collision on Elginfield Road near Saintsbury Line. The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police released his name on Friday.

According to police, an eastbound minivan being driven by Pietruszewski was turning left into a driveway when it was struck from behind by an eastbound car. The force of the collision pushed the minivan into the path of a westbound commercial truck. Pietruszewski was airlifted to hospital, but died of his injuries.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the truck driver wasn’t hurt.

"Emil was a dedicated student at King's University College where his caring and compassionate nature compelled him to pursue a future career in Forensic Psychology," his obituary says. "His life's passion was to help those around him, most recently through Crest Support Services where he assisted individuals with mental health and/or developmental disabilities reach their full potential."

A funeral service will be held Monday at Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa at 419 Hill Street.
