Brescia launches historic fundraising campaign

Brescia University College has unveiled a hefty fundraising goal.

The women’s university college announced on Sunday it hopes to raise $10-million over the next five years. The ambitious fundraising campaign is the largest one ever undertaken in the institution's 100 year history.

"We have now entered a pivotal time in our history, where the demand for the Brescia experience is stronger than ever – as is the need for bold women leaders across all industries," Brescia’s Principal Dr. Susan Mumm said in a statement. "This transformative fundraising campaign will not only help shape our university for the future, but will support our students – future change-makers, and glass ceiling breakers – into our next century.”

The Western University affiliate plans to use the money raised through its "lead with us" campaign to create a new building to support academic excellence, enhance financial aid and scholarships, and increase wellness supports, research possibilities and international and experiential learning opportunities.

Chair of the fundraising campaign Erin Rankin Nash, who graduated from Brescia in 1984, said community support will be instrumental in reaching the campaign goal.

"During this momentous time in the university’s history, the lead with us campaign cabinet and ambassador team will be bolder than ever before by reaching out to businesses, foundations, community partners, and alumna to ensure our students are future-ready,” said Rankin Nash.

Despite just being launched Sunday, the campaign has already raised more than $2-million. Among the initial donations, the Ursuline Sisters of Chatham have pledged $1-million and three unnamed individuals have kicked in a combined $750,000.
