Vehicle fire leads to arson charges

Arson charges have been laid against a 33-year-old London woman after a fire was set under two parked vehicles outside of a fast-food restaurant earlier this week.

London police were called to the McDonald's at 959 Hamilton Rd. near Highbury Avenue around 11:55 p.m. on Monday. Investigators determined a woman had lit a newspaper on fire and threw it under the unoccupied parked vehicles.

No one was hurt, but one of the vehicles sustained minor damage.

On Wednesday, police released a surveillance photo of a suspect in the case, asking for the public's help in identifying her. The individual was identified roughly two hours later.

Julie Andrews, 33, of London is now charged with arson causing property damage, attempting to commit an indictable offence and failure to comply with recognizance. She was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Thursday.
