A new video making the rounds online shows the moment a London police officer fired two shots at an armed, charging man on a busy downtown street.
The incident, captured in the 10 second video posted to Reddit by user u/cainboi, happened shortly after 9 a.m. last Tuesday in the area of Richmond and King streets.
A man in a high-visibility vest can be heard screaming before charging toward the police officer. In response, the officer fires his gun twice before tripping over a bus island curb and falling to the ground. The man in the vest, unharmed, then runs passed the officer to a nearby alley.
Police had been called to the area after getting reports of a man approaching people on the street with an "edged weapon." Following the gunfire, police attempted to negotiate with the man before taking him into custody without further incident.
A weapon was recovered by police at that time.
A 25-year-old man was later charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
