Woman sexually assaulted in cab

A London cab driver is facing sexual assault charges after allegedly attacking a woman inside his taxi over the weekend.

The woman was picked up by a cab in the area of Richmond Street and Ann Street before 4:40 a.m. Saturday. She told police that while she was seated in the front passenger seat, the driver reached over and touched her as the vehicle was moving.

The driver also allegedly recorded the assault on his cell phone before stopping the cab and hopping out of the vehicle. It was at that point the woman locked the doors, slid over to the driver's seat and took off with the taxi. She stopped the vehicle a short distance away and called 911 to report the incident.

The woman was not physically hurt and did not know the driver prior to the assault.

Moh’d Omar H. Ramdan, 46, of London is charged with sexual assault and voyeurism. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on October 10.

Police are concerned there may be more victims and are asking anyone who may have had a similar experience to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
