Londoners who use public transit will need to adjust their travel plans starting next month.
Starting on September 1, London Transit will be making routing and/or schedule changes to 41 routes with the exception of Route 37. The changes come as London Transit’s five-year service plan comes to an end this year, in its final year.
“The changes taking effect September 1, along with those we have been able to make over the past four years, will result in a transit system that is accessible to more Londoners, and more convenient and reliable for all of our customers,” said Commission Chair Sheryl Rooth in a statement.
Some of the changes include nine routes being given extended service to 1 a.m. on weekdays and Saturday, and the introduction two new express routes.
“This is great news for transit riders and London businesses. As a result of these changes, approximately 450 employers in London, that had previously gone without, will now have access to public transit," said Mayor Ed Holder in a press release. "Those businesses, including many in our industrial areas, now have an opportunity to better connect with job seekers who may otherwise have had no other way to get to and from work. While there’s still more to be done, this represents a very positive step as we seek to make public transit more reliable and more convenient for all Londoners.”
