Police investigating heist of $187K worth of cheese

While some thieves may target banks, one man in Oxford County has planned and executed the heist of a transport truck carrying $187,000 worth of cheese.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on August 9 at around 7:45 a.m., an unknown man attended a business on Hope Street West in East Zorra-Tavistock Township and provided paperwork for a shipment of cheese, which was bound for New Brunswick.  The trailer of a blue-coloured transport truck was then loaded and the man drove off with the cheese.

It was later determined the paperwork had been forged after the cheese failed to arrive at its destination. Police were notified on Tuesday and officers began an investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact the Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
