'Easy Rider' star Peter Fonda dead at 79

Veteran American actor Peter Fonda has died at the age of 79.

Fonda, who is best known for his role as Wyatt in 1969’s Easy Rider, died on Friday after suffering respiratory failure due to lung cancer, according to a family statement provided to People magazine.

The late actor starred in a number of films including Ulee’s Gold, The Hired Hand, and The Trip.

Fonda was born in New York City to famous actor Henry Fonda and New York socialite Frances Seymour Brokaw. He was also the brother of actress Jane Fonda and the father of actress Bridget Fonda. He leaves behind his wife Margaret and his children, Bridget and Justin.
