Certain Fusion brand solar-powered tiki torches are being recalled due to concerns they can overheat and catch on fire.
Health Canada issued the recall on Thursday for the black, Fusion 3-in-1 solar-powered tiki torch with a filigree design and 96 LEDs. The SKU for the affected product is 24943 and the UPC is 672376249439. The batteries in the torch can overheat, causing the light fixture's housing to melt, posing a fire hazard, according to Health Canada.
The solar lights were made in China and distributed by Cambridge-based Fusion Products Ltd. Roughly 8,613 of the torches were sold across Canada since the start of the year.
No one has been hurt as a result of the lights melting, but Fusion has received 19 reports of the product defect since July 22.
Anyone who purchased the torches is advised to stop using them immediately and either return them for a refund or destroy them and contact Fusion for a replacement product.
