Eat Smart kale salad bags being recalled over Listeria concerns

If you bought some bagged kale salad recently, you may want to double-check the packaging.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said a recall has been issued for Eat Smart's Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Bag Kits that have a best-before date of July 17, 2019 and the product code 7 09351 89140 3.

The 794-gram bags are being recalled over concerns about possible Listeria contamination.

The recall affects six provinces including Ontario and Quebec.

The CFIA said the recall was triggered by some of its test results, but notes "there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product."

If you think you became sick after eating the recalled product, you should call your doctor. Symptoms of Listeria infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

The CFIA said recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
