Fanshawe College ranks among the top post-secondary institutions for international student satisfaction, according to a new survey.
International students, through the 2018 i-graduate International Student Barometer (ISB) survey, ranked Fanshawe first out of nearly 200 global institutions for satisfaction with their overall learning experience. The college received a 92.8 per cent satisfaction rate. It also placed seventh globally for overall student satisfaction.
"We serve over 6,000 international students from more than 95 countries every year at all our campuses," Fanshawe's Executive Director of the International Centre Wendy Curtis said in a statement. "These students consistently rank us very highly, especially concerning the quality and comprehensiveness of their learning experience – including Fanshawe's expert faculty members, quality lectures, program content and learning spaces."
International students were asked to rate their satisfaction in their colleges through more than 70 different broad categories related to learning, arrival services, support services, and college life. Students from 199 institutions worldwide, including six Ontario colleges, took part in the survey last fall.
Overall, Fanshawe beat out 191 other post-secondary institutions to place seventh in the world for serving and satisfying its growing population of international students. It also ranked highly in satisfaction in campus environment, learning supports, and student services.
The college attributes its high ranking to enhancements to its arrival, orientation, settlement and social activities, including the peer-to-peer program, which pairs local students with international students.
“Fanshawe is committed to providing a premier learning, student life, and career preparation experience,” said college President Peter Devlin. “We work hard to ensure our international students have an exceptional time studying at Fanshawe and living in London. Year after year, these promising results show that our faculty and staff are doing a great job meeting their needs.”
Fanshawe has participated in the international survey, conducted by United Kingdom-based firm i-graduate International Insight, for the past eight years.
