401 closure set for Thursday night

Drivers heading west out of London on Highway 401 will be detoured on Thursday night.

The Ministry of Transportation has a closure of the westbound lanes between Colonel Talbot Road and Iona Road scheduled for 11 p.m. The closure will allow crews to work on installing bridge girders at the Union Road overpass. According to the MTO, westbound traffic will be detoured at Colonel Talbot Road to Highway 3, then to Iona Road, and then back onto Highway 401.

It's expected the westbound lanes of Highway 401 will re-open at 6 a.m. Friday.

While the westbound closure is in effect, the eastbound lanes will remain open. However, drivers should expect slower than normal traffic.
