11 guns stolen from east-end apartment

Nearly a dozen handguns were stolen from an east London apartment during a break-in last Friday.

London police were called after a tenant returned home to find personal property, including a locked gun safe with 11 registered handguns, had been taken. It is believed the apartment was broken into between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“It is extremely concerning that despite the fact these registered firearms were stored in a lockable container, as required by law, they are now missing and unaccounted for,” said Det/Sgt. Ryan Scrivens.

The law does not stipulate a minimum weight or size of lockable container required, but Scrivens recommends storing all firearms in a container that is heavy and difficult to move.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
