Provincial police are reminding drivers of the importance of stopping for school buses after a student was almost hit by a vehicle in Oxford County.
According to the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police, an officer saw a vehicle heading south on Oxford Road 119 around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday pass a stopped school bus that was also going south. Police said the bus had its lights flashing and its stop arm extended.
"A student that was standing on the shoulder of the road was almost struck," police said in a statement issued Tuesday. "The officer followed the Hyundai when it was safe to do so and spoke with the driver."
A 37-year-old woman is charged with failing to stop for a school bus.
