Drunk man breaks into house, falls asleep

A St. Thomas man is in trouble with the law after allegedly breaking into a house and then proceeding to make himself at home.

It happened around 4 a.m. Saturday morning at a residence on Alma Street.

Police say they received a call from the homeowner reporting that an unknown man was inside the house. When officers arrived, they found an intoxicated male asleep on the couch. He sustained injuries while breaking into the residence before passing out on the sofa. When he was arrested, the man claimed that he had accidentally entered the wrong home, mistaking it for his own.

As a result, the 45-year-old has been charged with mischief and being intoxicated in a public place. He was held in custody until sober and eventually released with a future court date.
