Gun fired during attempted home invasion

Police are looking for a suspect after a man fired a handgun while attempting to force his way into a London home.

The London Police Service said the man went to the home on Hale Street at around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, and pulled a handgun on the homeowner while demanding money. The man tried to force his way in and during a struggle, the gun fired a round into the wall of the home.

The attacker fled the home but police were not contacted. However, he later returned to the home around 6 a.m. and the victim called 911. At some point during the incident, the victim suffered minor injuries.

This is not believed to have been a random occurrence, police said.

Police are now looking for a suspect who is described as being a black male, around 5'10" tall, with a slim build and dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, dark pants and sunglasses.

The Street Crime Unit is conducting an investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
