Wanted Windsor man arrested after attempted carjacking in London

A Windsor man who was wanted on a Canada-wide parole warrant has been arrested in connection with an attempted carjacking in London's east end.

London police said they were able to track down the suspect after he allegedly threatened to stab a man early Tuesday morning and then tried to steal a vehicle about two hours later.

Police said the first incident took place at around 5 a.m. Tuesday when a man left his residence on Hillcrest Avenue after hearing a car alarm in the area of his residence. The man was allegedly approached by a stranger in his backyard who then threatened to stab him before running away.

About two hours later, just before 7 a.m. that same morning, a woman who was in her driveway on Kaladar Drive was allegedly approached by a stranger who grabbed her wrist and demanded the keys to her car.

The woman allegedly saw a knife in the man's hand and screamed for help. At that point, the man released the woman's arm and took off running.

Officers showed up at the scene a short time later and were able to locate a suspect with some help from the Canine Unit.

Jason Long, 25, of Windsor is now charged with armed robbery and uttering threats/death or bodily harm.

He appeared in a London court on Tuesday in relation to the charges.
