Damaging winds, blowing snow in the weekend forecast

We could be in for some damaging wind speeds and treacherous driving conditions Sunday and early Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of southern Ontario, warning of damaging wind gusts that will be moving in.

Those gusts could reach speeds between 90 and 110 kilometres per hour, and forecasters said that is strong enough to cause serious damage to roof shingles and windows.

The region is also expected to receive two to five centimetres of snow to fall overnight Sunday and into Monday, which could cause serious visibility problems and whiteout conditions, especially when it's coupled with the strong wind gusts.
