Second London pot shop possible

When cannabis retail storefronts begin to open across the province this spring Londoners could have two locations in the city to choose from.

An application for a second cannabis retail store in London was submitted Thursday to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The pot shop dubbed Tweed would be operated by an Ontario numbered company at 1025 Wellington Road - a south-end plaza that is currently home to Chapters, the Beer Store, Farm Boy, and David's Bridal.

Christopher Comrie submitted the first application for a cannabis store in London earlier this month. That store would go by the name of Central Cannabis and would be located at 666 Wonderland Road, at Oxford Street.

The public has 15 days from the date the application was submitted to voice any concerns they may have with the proposed locations.

The AGCO is responsible for approving or denying retail cannabis store site applications.

Cannabis retail sales by private retailers will be phased in throughout the province with 25 outlets to open April 1.
