Drunk driving charges laid in fatal crash

A 22-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving in connection with a single-vehicle crash southwest of London that left another woman dead on Boxing Day.

Channon George, 27, of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, was killed when the vehicle she was riding in veered off the roadway and hit a bridge barrier on Southminster Bourne between Woodhull Road and Westdel Bourne in Middlesex Centre around 6:15 a.m. on December 26. Another occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police originally reported the crash happened around 8 a.m., but further investigation determined it had actually occurred roughly two hours earlier.

Kylie George, 22, of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation has now been charged with dangerous driving causing death, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, and impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

She was scheduled to appear in London court for a bail hearing on Thursday.
