Murder charge laid in arrow death

A 35-year-old London man is now charged with second degree murder in the death of a man who was shot with an arrow in the northeast end of the city earlier this month.

Kevin Brandon Hartman was arrested Tuesday.

The charges stem from the February 5 incident that saw emergency crews rush to a home on Arbour Glen Crescent, near Kipps Lane where they found Brian Peter Maksoud, 46, of London suffering from a wound from an arrow.

Maksoud was taken to hospital for emergency surgery, but died from his injuries hours later.

"The victim and accused were known to each other. The investigation is continuing and no additional information will be released at this time," police said in a statement issued Wednesday.

Police have not indicated whether the arrow used came from a cross-bow or a regular bow or whether the weapon has been found.

Maksoud's death is the city's second homicide of the year. His death came a month after Nicholas Baltzis, 25, of London was fatally stabbed in a Notre Dame Drive townhouse on January 6. Karl Hallman, 28, of London is charged with second degree murder in connection with Baltzis' death.
