Man arrested after attempted carjacking

London police have arrested one man and are looking for a second after an attempted carjacking in the west-end.

A 24-year-old man was sitting in his parked vehicle in a plaza at Wonderland Road and Oxford Street West around 10:15 p.m. Sunday when two men walked up and demanded that he get out. When the man refused to get out of the vehicle, one of the other men pulled out a handgun.

The driver remained in his vehicle and the two men took off in opposite directions. The man in the vehicle was not hurt during the incident.

Police were called and arrested an 18-year-old Mississauga man nearby. He is scheduled to appear in London court on Monday.

The search for the second suspect is continuing. Police are looking for a man described as black, between 20-30 years of age, approximately 5’10”, 175 pounds, with a slim build, and black hair.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
