Elderly woman's wedding band, jewelry stolen

Norfolk County OPP are appealing to the public for tips after an elderly woman who was pushing her walker along the sidewalk was targeted by thieves in Simcoe.

Police said the woman was walking along the sidewalk on Robinson Street sometime around 5 p.m. on Saturday when an older model black vehicle stopped on the roadway in front of her. Two females then approached the woman and removed a bracelet from her wrist, a necklace, and the woman's wedding ring.

Investigators said the females then gave the victim two large gold chains before they took off in the vehicle, which was being driven by a man.

The first female suspect is described as approximately five feet tall with a darker skin complexion. The second female suspect is described as a dark-skinned female.

Police said the wedding band that was stolen is described as 65 years old and is a wide yellow gold ring with diamond chips embedded on the outer edge of the ring. The bracelet that was stolen is an emerald diamond yellow gold wrist bracelet with emerald and diamond squares encircling the entire wrist -- it's valued at approximately $2,200. The necklace that was stolen is described as a wide yellow gold heart-shaped necklace with diamond chips on the outline of a gold heart valued at approximately $700.

Anyone with information that can help to identify the vehicle and the individuals involved is urged to contact police immediately. You can contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
