A week after the Husky Travel Centre outside of London was held up at gunpoint, a man and woman have been arrested by Toronto police in connection with the early morning robbery.
A man armed with a handgun and wearing a ski mask and a hoodie walked into the service centre on Westchester Bourne at Highway 401 around 2:15 a.m. on January 14 and demanded money from the clerk. He then took off with a woman in a black Honda Civic with Nova Scotia licence plates.
No one was physically hurt during the robbery.
Just after 8:30 p.m. the same day, a masked man, armed with a long gun, went to an east Toronto gas station and demanded money from the store clerk. After a brief struggle, the man's mask was pulled off and he was recognized as a former employee. According to police, the man then pulled a knife and cut the 42-year-old store clerk in the neck before taking off.
The clerk was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Officers arrived on scene and located a suspect vehicle. An AR15 replica rifle was found inside the vehicle and a man and woman were arrested.
A 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, both of no fixed address, are charged with robbery with a firearm.
The man is additionally charged with uttering threats, aggravated assault, and disguise with intent.
