UPDATE: Three dead in double-decker bus crash in Ottawa

Three people are dead and 23 are injured after a double-decker bus filled with commuters crashed into Westboro Station in Ottawa.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, the bus was travelling west on the Transitway at around 3:50 p.m. on Friday when the crash occurred. The earliest reports indicated that two of the three people killed in the crash were on the bus, while the other was standing on the platform at the time of the collision. However, Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau said police are still trying to determine exactly what locations stood those who died.

The female driver of the bus was detained for questioning, but later released.

The Citizen reported that on Saturday morning, Ottawa Hospital reported one patient in critical condition, six serious and four stable.

An investigation is ongoing.
