2019 may have a wet beginning for portions of southern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Monday for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London-Middlesex, Elgin County, Oxford County and Sarnia-Lambton.
The weather agency said significant rainfall is in the forecast for New Year's Eve, with a system moving through southern Ontario starting Monday morning and moving into the Golden Horseshoe by afternoon. The rain should taper off beginning Monday evening.
Rainfall amounts of up to 25 millimetres are possible in some areas, with localised pooling of rainwater likely in areas with poor drainage.
