Spitfires crash against Knights 8-6

The Windsor Spitfires dropped an 8-6 decision to the London Knights in OHL action on Friday.

Louka Henault kicked things off for Windsor with a goal 6:08 into the first period, but Paul Cotter and Nathan Dunkley both scored for the Knights in the second half of the frame to give London the lead.  Billy Moskal, Josh Nelson and Liam Foudy scored back-to-back goals in first 10 minutes of the second period to give the Knights a 5-1 lead.  Cole Purboo scored twice for the Spitfires to close out of the second.

Nelson scored his second of the night 5:38 into the third, but Will Cuylle responded quickly for Windsor to cut the Knights' lead to two goals. Curtis Douglas added another goal for the Spitfires 12:13 into the frame to bring Windsor within one goal, but Connor McMichael scored for London to make it 7-5.  Again Windsor was able to cut London's lead to one point thanks to a goal from Daniel D'Amico, however, Cotter scored his second goal of the evening with less than two minutes left in the game to ensure the win.

Knights goaltender Joseph Raaymakers made 34 saves out of 40 shots on net.

The Spitfires will head to the Dort Federal Event Center on Saturday to battle the Flint Firebirds at 7 p.m. And then on Sunday, the Knights will face the Sting in Sarnia at 2:05 p.m.
