UPDATE: Police investigate dead body found in Thames River

London police are asking for the public's assistance after a body was pulled from the Thames River, south of Gibbons Park.

According to police, they received a call around 9 a.m. Saturday, from a concerned resident regarding a possible body floating in the river.

Emergency services recovered the body of a deceased unidentified male from the water. Officers are now asking for help in identifying the male. He is described as having had dark hair with some facial hair. Police said he was wearing black athletic pants, a purple T-shirt with a "Los Angeles Lakers" logo on the front, and black Nike shoes. The male was also wearing a thick necklace around his neck.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled to take place Sunday at University Hospital.
