Sting swat Knights 5-4 in a shootout

The London Knights dropped a 5-4 decision to the Sarnia Sting following a shootout on Wednesday.

After a scoreless first period, Hugo Leufvenius scored early in the second to put Sarnia on the board. Josh Nelson, Gerard Keane, Connor McMichael responded by scoring back to back goals for London to give them a 3-1. However, the Sting tied things up with Jamieson Rees and Alexandre Hogue both scoring before the third.

Paul Cotter scored 14:08 into the third frame to give the Knights the lead, but Adam Ruzicka added the tying goal for Sarnia with under three minutes left on the clock to force overtime.

After no scoring in the overtime period, Leufvenius scored the shootout winner for Sarnia.

Sting goaltender Ethan Langevin made 32 saves out of 36 shots on net, while Joseph Raaymakers made 42 saves out of 46 shots on net.

The Sting will be on home ice on Friday to take on the Erie Otters at 7:05 p.m. Also on Friday, the Knights are back in London to battle the Niagara IceDogs at 7:30 p.m.
