North Bay murder suspect arrested in London

London police have arrested a robbery suspect who is wanted in connection with a homicide in northern Ontario.

The arrest of Ryan Abraham was executed after a chain of events involving police from both London and North Bay.

North Bay police contacted London around 11 a.m. Saturday to advise that Abraham, who was wanted in North Bay in relation to a homicide, was in the London area. London police dispatched several officers to follow up on that information.

Around 11:40 a.m. Saturday, a 911 call was taken reporting a robbery in the area of Fanshawe Park Rd. W. and North Centre Rd., in which a vehicle was stolen and a person was injured. Police were able to locate the vehicle but the suspect had run away.

At 2 p.m., the suspect, later identified as Abraham, was located by police and arrested without incident on the North Bay warrant. Following a subsequent investigation, Abraham is charged with two counts each of robbery, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order, and theft. He is also accused of one count each of theft of motor vehicle, forcible confinement and uttering threats.

Abraham was expected to appear in a London courtroom on Sunday to answer to the robbery-related charges, which have not been proven in court.

The victim of the robbery has been treated in hospital for minor injuries.

London police have assigned the case to their Criminal Investigation Division's street crime unit. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call London police at (519) 661-5670. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online.
