Ontario Provincial Police are looking into an incident in which the presence of Santa Claus made some people uncomfortable.
OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk said officers were called shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday to a location on Talbot Rd. in Delhi. A parent had contacted police out of concern over a suspicious male dressed in a Santa Claus suit.
Police determined that a group of children were tobogganing in Centennial Park when the male dressed as Santa attempted to speak to the children and wave them over to his location. Sanchuk said as some of the kids were leaving to go home, a white SUV pulled up, and the man in the Santa suit got in on the passenger side.
Police searched the area but could not find the vehicle or the man.
The OPP is urging people to watch out for suspicious activity at all times and contact them immediately if they see anything unusual, at their toll-free number, 1-888-310-1122. If a crime is in progress, call 911 immediately.
