Man accused of assault by fire extinguisher in St. Thomas

St. Thomas police have charged a man with assaulting another man with a fire extinguisher.

It happened late Friday night, according to Staff Sergeant Russell Yates. Officers were called around 11 p.m. to an apartment on Talbot St. on a report of a fight. When they arrived, a man told them he had been struck with a fire extinguisher, though it was nota¬†clear which part of the victim’s body was affected.

The man left the scene with the fire extinguisher, which was the property of the apartment complex. Yates said a 30-year-old man was arrested Saturday and charged with assault with a weapon, mischief and theft under $5,000.

These charges have yet to be proven in court.
