Fatal crash shuts down section of Highway 3 in Norfolk County

Norfolk County OPP were forced to close Highway 3 just west of Simcoe to investigate a fatal head-on crash.

The OPP said a vehicle was heading west on Highway 3 just before 6 a.m. Tuesday when it crossed over into the westbound lanes and hit an oncoming propane truck.

Officers said they found a deceased male in the vehicle that hit the truck. The driver of the propane truck wasn't hurt. A passenger in the truck was also uninjured.

The road was closed between Charlotteville Road 10 and Charlotteville East Quarter Line Road for several hours, but it has since been reopened.

No names are being released yet as police are working to notify next of kin.
