Knights stop Spitfires 4-2

Liam Foudy scored twice as the London Knights doubled up the Windsor Spitfires 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the WFCU Centre.

The Knights extend their lead in the OHL Midwest Division to 38 points. The Spitfires are in third place in the West Division with 26 points.

The Spitfires took a 2-0 lead in the first period. Curtis Douglas connected at 4:31 for his 12th goal of the season. Teammate Daniel D'Amico followed suit over nine minutes later.

London roared back into the game with a pair of goals in the second period. Foudy's first goal of the game, at 54 seconds into the stanza, put the Knights on the board, then Matvey Guskov tied the game with his fifth goal of the year.

The score remained knotted at two apiece until Connor McMichael scored for London on the power play at 15:51 of the final period. Foudy added an empty-net goal to seal the win.

Joseph Raaymakers took the win in goal for the Knights, stopping 22 shots. Michael DiPietro had 26 saves in the losing effort for Windsor.

The Spitfires next host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Thursday night. The Knights are back in action Friday night when the Erie Otters come to Budweiser Gardens.
