Charges laid after boy hit by vehicle

A 27-year-old man is facing charges after a vehicle hit a young boy crossing a St. Thomas street on Tuesday.

St. Thomas police were called to the collision at the intersection of Alma Street and Kains Street shortly after 5 p.m. A 10-year-old boy on his scooter was crossing eastbound on Kains when he was hit by a vehicle making a left-hand turn from Kains onto Alma Street.

The force of the crash launched the boy into the air before he landed on the asphalt. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, who was not hurt, is charged with making an unsafe left turn.
