Zorra Township mourns 'vibrant' teen killed in crash

A 17-year-old hockey player killed in a head-on crash involving a transport truck in Zorra Township is being remembered as a "vibrant young man" with a "huge heart."

Tyler Arts of Zorra Township was driving home from school shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday when his westbound vehicle veered out of control and collided with an eastbound tractor trailer on Road 84 between 25th Line and 27th Line.

Arts was pronounced dead at the scene.

"He was a vibrant young man with a sweet soul and huge heart," the Ingersoll District Minor Hockey Association said of Arts in a Facebook post. "He will be missed by many."

The hockey group went on to offer its condolences to Arts' family.

"TA7 will never be forgotten as he engulfed a part of everyone’s heart who has ever met him," the association wrote.

The driver of the transport truck was not physically hurt. The crash closed the stretch of road for several hours, but it has since re-opened.

Police continue to probe the cause of the collision.
