Families beg for tips in triple murder

Police have revealed one of the victims in a triple murder in Middlesex Centre was pregnant at the time of her death.

At a joint news conference held Thursday, Middlesex OPP and the Six Nations of the Grand River police service said Melissa Miller, 37, was seven months pregnant with a baby boy.

"I know this information will be very upsetting for many, especially Melissa's family. In our culture as Haudenosaunee people, a baby is the most precious gift you can receive," said Six Nations Acting Deputy Chief Darren Montour.

Miller's body, along with the bodies of Alan Porter, 33, and Michael Jamieson, 32, all from Six Nations of the Grand River, were discovered with a stolen grey 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in a field off of Bodkin Road, near Jones Road outside of Oneida Nation of the Thames on the morning of November 4.

Autopsies were performed two days following the grisly discovery, however, police are not releasing the cause of death.

"I am not at liberty to provide specifics of the physical location of the victims' bodies, the causes, or the timing of their deaths as this information is critical to the on-going investigation," said OPP Detective Inspector Pete Liptrott, a major case manager with the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. "I can only imagine the pain and heartbreak that these deaths have caused Six Nations of the Grand River community.

All three of the victims were close friends. Porter was a father of two, Jamieson was a father of five, and Miller a mother of five and grandmother of one. Members of the three victims' families attended Thursday's news conference.

Miller's brother, Trevor Miller, broke down while making an impassioned plea for anyone with information relating to the murders to come forward.

"Please anybody. Somebody knows something. This did not need to happen. Somebody come forward," Trevor Miller begged.

Jock Hill, who spoke on behalf of the Porter and Jamieson families, took a harder line when asking people to come forward with what they know.

"By not sharing information that is not right. You're just as guilty. So if you have information bring it forward. I know it is out there," said Hill.

Police have confirmed no one has been taken into custody in relation to the murders as of yet. They have established at dedicated tip-line at 1-844-677-5050.

"I can tell you we have received information on our tip line. I will not tell you how many tips we received, but all information that we are receiving we are following up and investigating," said Liptrott.

When asked whether the triple homicide was related to the murder of Douglas Hill, Miller's former common-law partner whose body was found on Bodkin Rd. in August 2017, police would not confirm nor deny it.
