Drunk driving charges laid in school bus crash

Drunk driving charges have been laid against a 31-year-old London man after a three-vehicle crash between a car, an empty school bus and a transport truck.

Oxford OPP were called to the collision at the intersection of Beachville Rd. and Foldens Line in South-West Oxford Township just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to police, the car had been traveling west on Beachville Rd. when it failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with the northbound school bus on Foldens Line. The force of the crash sent the bus into the path of a transport truck.

The driver of the car had to be cut from the wreckage and was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The bus driver also suffered minor injuries, while the transport driver was not hurt.

There were no children on board the bus at the time of the crash.

The car driver, a 31-year-old London man, is charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He also received a 90-day driver's licence suspension and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the cause of the crash.
